This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to the DotClock website, accounts, cloud services, MQTT/WebSocket transports, APIs, firmware tools, device integrations, Amazon Alexa and Google Home integrations, support channels, roadmap, reviews, gallery, and any other feature that lets you submit content or interact with DotClock systems.
General Rule
Use DotClock for lawful, personal, and product-related purposes. Do not use DotClock to harm people, damage systems, evade controls, infringe rights, or interfere with the service for others.
Security Abuse
You must not:
- attempt to access accounts, devices, topics, APIs, admin tools, databases, logs, or cloud resources that are not assigned to you;
- scan, probe, exploit, fuzz, or stress-test DotClock systems without written permission;
- bypass authentication, authorisation, rate limits, account linking, device assignment, payment controls, or platform review controls;
- introduce malware, credential stealers, spam tooling, bot traffic, or deliberately malformed payloads;
- interfere with MQTT, WebSocket, HTTP, email, firmware update, smart-home, or geolocation infrastructure;
- use DotClock systems to attack or monitor third-party networks, devices, or services.
Device And Integration Abuse
You must not:
- claim, link, control, or monitor a DotClock device that you do not own or have permission to manage;
- spoof device identifiers, MAC addresses, account-linking tokens, smart-home requests, firmware versions, telemetry, or sensor readings;
- use Alexa, Google Home, or DotClock cloud features to mislead users about device state, safety, availability, or ownership;
- use DotClock for emergency dispatch, medical monitoring, security alarms, critical infrastructure, or life-safety purposes;
- automate commands or telemetry in a way that degrades the service, drains devices, floods queues, or disrupts other users.
Content Rules
You are responsible for custom messages, reviews, gallery submissions, roadmap comments or votes, names, icons, images, and any other content you submit. You must not submit content that:
- is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, harassing, hateful, violent, sexually explicit, exploitative, or abusive;
- targets or endangers children, or is directed to children in a way that requires special platform approval;
- infringes copyright, trademarks, design rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, database rights, or trade secrets;
- contains passwords, private keys, API keys, payment data, sensitive personal data, health data, or another person's private information;
- impersonates DotClock, Andrea Teofilo, Amazon, Google, another user, or any third party;
- misrepresents endorsement, certification, safety status, warranty status, or official platform approval.
Spam And Commercial Misuse
You must not:
- send spam, phishing, unsolicited promotions, fake reviews, fake votes, or misleading waitlist/order/support requests;
- scrape, harvest, or resell site content, product data, user content, device data, email addresses, or account metadata;
- use DotClock services to build a competing hosted service, device registry, smart-home bridge, analytics product, or dataset without written permission;
- resell, rent, sublicense, or commercially repackage DotClock cloud access, firmware, APIs, or integrations without written permission.
Platform Compliance
If you use DotClock with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or another smart-home platform, you must also follow that platform's terms, developer policies, certification rules, privacy requirements, and user-safety requirements. You may not use DotClock to bypass platform permissions, account linking, consent flows, user disclosures, safety rules, child-directed restrictions, or content policies.
Responsible Security Research
We welcome good-faith security reports. Before testing beyond your own device and account, contact security [at] dotclock [dot] it and get written permission. Never access, change, delete, exfiltrate, or disclose another person's data. Stop testing and report promptly if you encounter data that is not yours.
Enforcement
If we reasonably believe this AUP has been violated, we may remove content, reject submissions, throttle traffic, revoke tokens, unlink integrations, suspend accounts, block devices, disable cloud features, contact platform providers, preserve evidence, or notify law enforcement or regulators where appropriate.
We may make exceptions or apply stricter controls when needed to protect users, comply with law, maintain Amazon/Google certification, prevent abuse, or keep the service reliable.
