Weather data sources

Google's weather service provides the main forecast baseline for most DotClock devices.

Data used: Current conditions, daily forecasts, hourly forecasts, temperature, weather condition, wind, humidity, UV, rain probability, sunrise and sunset.

Google Maps helps DotClock understand where a device is, without requiring every user to enter coordinates manually.

Data used: Wi-Fi based location lookup, latitude/longitude, locality names and formatted addresses.

A European radar network used to improve short-term rain awareness where radar coverage is available.

Data used: Radar precipitation checks and short-term rain trend information.

Deutscher Wetterdienst is Germany's national meteorological service.

Data used: MOSMIX forecast data, RADOLAN/RV radar nowcast composites, hourly/daily forecast fallback and German weather-warning areas.

AEMET is Spain's national meteorological agency.

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts publishes open global forecast data.

ARPA Lombardia provides environmental and weather observations for Lombardy.

Data used: Nearby observations such as temperature, wind and precipitation in supported areas.

The World Meteorological Organization aggregates official severe weather alert feeds from national services worldwide.

Italy's civil-protection department publishes national and regional risk bulletins.

Data used: Recent nearby earthquake magnitude, location, depth, time and distance from the device.
