Related Terms
- Terms of Sale apply when you buy DotClock hardware.
- Firmware Licence applies to DotClock firmware and embedded software.
- Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data.
- Cookie Policy explains cookies and browser storage.
- Acceptable Use Policy explains what you may and may not do with accounts, cloud features, APIs, and community tools.
Using The Website And Services
You may use the DotClock website, account area, cloud services, device controls, firmware tools, roadmap, gallery, reviews, and support features for their intended purpose. You must not misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer hosted services, bypass access controls, or use the services in a way that harms DotClock, other users, or third parties.
You must be at least 18, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian, to create an account or place an order. Smart-home developer accounts, commercial integrations, and admin access require you to be legally able to accept these Terms.
Accounts And Security
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account.
- Use accurate account, billing, shipping, and device-assignment information.
- Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account or assigned devices.
- We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe an account, token, device, or integration is compromised or being misused.
Device And Cloud Features
DotClock can operate locally through its built-in web interface. Optional cloud features may use DotClock servers, MQTT/WebSocket transport, external data providers, and smart-home platforms to provide weather, alerts, news, stocks, device state, sensor history, display controls, custom messages, and remote configuration.
Cloud and third-party data may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable. Weather alerts, earthquake notices, news, stocks, public holidays, sensor readings, and other informational features are provided for ambient convenience only. Do not rely on DotClock for emergency warnings, life-safety decisions, evacuation, navigation, investment decisions, medical decisions, or legal compliance.
Amazon Alexa And Google Home
If you link DotClock with Amazon Alexa or Google Home, you authorise DotClock to receive account-linking, discovery, command, and state-reporting messages from those platforms and to send the corresponding control or status messages to your assigned DotClock devices. Amazon and Google operate their own services under their own terms and privacy policies.
Voice recognition, voice recordings, assistant transcripts, assistant account settings, platform availability, certification rules, and platform-side failures are controlled by Amazon or Google, not DotClock. You can unlink the integration through the relevant app or DotClock account controls where available.
User Content
You may be able to submit custom messages, reviews, roadmap votes, gallery watchfaces, names, icons, images, text, or other content. You keep ownership of your content, but you give DotClock a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, display, process, transmit, moderate, and adapt it as needed to provide and promote the service.
You are responsible for your content and must have all rights needed to submit it. Do not submit sensitive personal data, secrets, passwords, private keys, illegal content, hateful or abusive content, infringing content, or anything that violates the Acceptable Use Policy.
Purchases
Product purchases, payment, delivery, cancellation, returns, warranty, and firmware licence terms are governed by the Terms of Sale and Firmware Licence. An online order is confirmed when we send an order confirmation email. If stock is not available or an obvious pricing error occurred, we may cancel and refund the order before dispatch.
Intellectual Property
The DotClock name, website, product design, firmware, software, graphics, documentation, photos, logos, and other materials are owned by Andrea Teofilo or licensed to DotClock. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative commercial services from them unless these Terms, the firmware licence, or written permission allow it.
You may tinker with your own device for personal use as allowed by the Terms of Sale, but hosted DotClock services, accounts, APIs, cloud transports, and smart-home integrations may not be scraped, cloned, abused, or commercially repackaged without written permission.
Changes And Availability
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, providers, integrations, firmware tools, or cloud services. We will try to avoid breaking core device use without good reason, but services that depend on third parties, beta features, or platform approvals may change or stop working.
Termination
You may stop using the services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, violate the Acceptable Use Policy, create legal or security risk, misuse devices or integrations, or fail to pay amounts due. Termination does not remove obligations that by their nature should continue, such as payment, licence limits, liability limits, and legal compliance.
Disclaimers
Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, perfect accuracy, compatibility with every router/browser/platform, or continued availability of third-party services such as weather, maps, news, stock, payment, shipping, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home.
Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or anything that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Otherwise, to the maximum extent permitted by law, DotClock's total liability for claims relating to the website, accounts, services, cloud features, or integrations is limited to the amount you paid DotClock for the relevant product or service in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 100 if you did not pay anything.
